Farmers Markerts

North or south, New Zealand's islands are like a basket overflowing of fresh and seasonal produce.

There is no better place than farmers' market to make the most of the fresh opportunities. If you are looking for the most scenic markets around the country, look no further than our top 16.  

North Island

1. Auckland
La Cigale French-style market offers a selection of fresh produce, artisan breads and delicious meats and cheeses. Open weekly on Saturdays and Sunday from 8am to 1.30pm.

2. Hamilton
Heading to Taranaki or Mt Maunganui? Deviate slightly off course and make a stop at the Hamilton Farmers Market, held every Sunday from 8am to 12pm.

3. Napier
Every Sunday 8.30am until 12.30pm, nested in a beautiful surroundings, Napier Farmers market offers a great selection of local produce. Figs, cured meats, preserves, anyone?

South Island

4. Wanaka
On every Sunday, Wanaka Farmers Market caters to the fussiest of eaters with an amazing selection of pastries, fruit and veg and much more. BBQ stations are location close by at Eely Point Reserve to cook up a feast when you are shopped out.

5. Glenorchy
A short (and very scenic) drive from Queenstown, takes you to Glenorchy where some of the Lord of the Rings scenes were filmed. It is, however, not the only attraction of the area. Work up an appetite by going for a scenic walk around the late and pick up some goodies from the Glenorchy Showgrounds Sunday market after as a well-deserved treat.

6. Dunedin
If you are in Dunedin, you are in for a treat on every Saturday morning from 8am until 12.30pm. Food sold directly from people who grow it!
