Franz Josef Activities
1. Franz Josef Glacier
There are several different ways to discover the beauty of Franz Josef Glacier. Take a guided half day or full day tour to go on a walk, ice climbing, heli-hike or scenic flight to see the beauty of the glacier. The glaciers are in a unique environment where they meet the rainforest for some spectacular views in a temperate climate.
2. Glacier Hot Pools
After a day discovering the beauty of Franz Josef Glacier, head to the Glacier Hot Pools which are set amongst rainforests. The water temperatures range from 36 to 40 degrees Celsius and offer a tranquil setting for relaxation. Treat yourself to a rejuvenating massage or enjoy the seclusion of the private hot pools.
3. Quad Biking Adventures
Take an adventure on an ATV quad bike to see the Southern Alps and the rugged scenery of the West Coast. Experienced guides will take you through water and rainforest where you will see spectacular views of Franz Josef Glacier, mountains and rainforests. The quad biking experience is great in sun or rain (even better when you get to splash through the mud!).
