1: Kapiti Island & Marine Reserve - Experience the delight of seeing many of New Zealand’s treasured native birds on this magnificent island bird sanctuary. Many of the birds you get to see here are extremely scarce on the mainland. Access is by approved tourism operators only. Enjoy a guided tour of the Island to learn more about this unique Island reserve. The Marine reserve is a popular spot for kayaking and canoeing where you might catch a glimpse of whales, dolphins or seabirds such as penguins and gannets that are regular visitors to the area.
