Turitea Loop Track

A fun ride for people of moderate fitness level in a mainly rural setting.

This is a fun loop ride with stunning scenery throughout, including a couple of great viewing spots. Mainly through Manawatu rural country, this ride is a great way to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city, without having to go too far. It's suitable for riders of a moderate fitness level.

Getting there:

From The Square in Palmerston North, you can either ride or drive down Fitzherbert Ave. Head over the Fitzherbert Bridge up on Summerhill Drive. If you are driving, park your car on the gravel section just before the turn off onto Old West Road. Be sure to lock away all valuables, car parking here is at owner's risk. Turn right onto Old West Road, then left onto Turitea Road. Follow down to the bridge. Head over the Bridge and up to your right. Stay on this gravel road all the way through to the Kahuterawa Road and follow this to Old West Road. Turn right onto Old West Road and head back to Summer Hill Drive. Remember that Green Road is a public road, so care needs to be taken and always stay to the left. Look out for walkers, dogs, and other riders and ride sensibly, always keep your speed under control.

Things to see and do:

40m past the Old West Road and turn off, on Summerhill Drive, is the Summerhill Shopping Complex, which has a great variety of shops such as New World Supermarket, where you'll find all your grocery needs, including fresh food to go. The Chemist is a handy place to grab a few essential items from. Rendezvous Restaurant has a great menu selection, for both food and beverages. Food to go is plentiful here, with a variety of takeaway and dine-in places, such as the great value Fish & Chip shop, tasty Indian Cuisine as well as mouth-watering Italian.
