Working for NZONE since 1997, Sasa Jojic has only missed 7 years of the company’s twenty one years of operation and is proud to be a part of the celebration.
I have watched the company grow and I have grown with it. It’s great to see the business thriving after all of these years of hard work and I feel very proud to have been a part of it. NZONE are the reason I stayed in New Zealand, as I loved the professionalism and safety standards of the company. That was 14 years ago and they have only got better.
Queenstown based tandem skydiving company, NZONE Skydive was established in October 1990 and was the first commercial tandem skydive operation in New Zealand. More than two decades later and it’s a multi award winning company that has thrilled more than 180,000 customers.
Operations Manager, Sasa is originally from Serbia where he was double Yugoslavian skydive champion and spent 5 years on his country’s national skydiving team. He has been influential in the company’s success and growth over the years, working as a Tandem Master, Freefall Photographer and XLR8 Learn to Skydive Instructor. He also heads up the daily skydive operation tasks and looks after a team which swells to 30 skydivers in the summer season.
NZONE Skydive Managing Director and Owner, Lindsay Williams, appreciates Sasa’s knowledge and experience to run his team.
After 21,000 skydives in 24 years and 14 years within our company, how can we get a better person to help us grow our business and keep our safety levels high? Sasa is an integral part of the company and we are grateful to have his wealth of experience on the ground and in the air.
Known for his calm, caring personality, Sasa soothes customer fears and focusses on customer service. After 21,000 skydives, jumping from 15,000ft out of a perfectly good aeroplane doesn’t faze him.
Getting to meet so many amazing people has been the highlight. I once had the pleasure of jumping with paralysed ex-professional world champion duathlete, Christian Wenk. The positive attitude and energy he possessed was overwhelming and someone I will remember forever. I was so proud to fulfil one of his dreams.
After finding other sports dull, Sasa learned to skydive when he was 16, quickly realising that skydiving is not just a sport, but a lifestyle. Trained as an electrician in medical equipment, his skydive lifestyle took over, taking him to work in Chicago before New Zealand. He decided to stay in New Zealand after falling in love with the scenery and of course his Kiwi wife!
Sasa started to teach others to skydive in 1994 and loves that he can help others realise their dream and make such a huge change in their lives. Seeing the potential in students and watching them progress, sometimes to Tandem Master level, is an amazing experience and very rewarding.
NZONE is celebrating their 21st birthday by co-ordinating a 21-way formation sports jump for the staff, allowing the skydivers to learn new skills and improve their freefall techniques.
