Located just 20 minutes' drive from Queenstown, you can get to Arrowtown either via Lake Hayes or via Arthurs Point which takes you past the Shotover Jet base and the access road to Coronet Peak skifield. Both roads are very scenic so it’s best to do a loop in order to take both in.
Arrowtown is a fascinating, picturesque town where the past and present seamlessly blend. Born of the 1862 goldrush, the legacy of the early settlers has been preserved over time and the township is now a treasure in its own right with quaint tree-lined streets, old miners’ cottages, a restored Chinese Village and the Lakes District Museum.
Arrowtowners are understandably proud of their town and work hard to keep its old world charm as well as a more sophisticated feel with the likes of fine clothing stores, art studios and galleries, a boutique cinema, and some great cafés, bars and restaurants.
