Kaikoura Art Gallery
This recently opened gallery was specifically designed to display exclusively New Zealand art. Located on the main street of Westend Kaikoura you will see wonderful kiwi souvenirs, jewelry, art and more.
Pacific Allure Gallery
Also located in Westend Kaikoura is the Pacific Allure Gallery, which is also a fully licensed cafe. Enjoy coffee, cake and great locally made art in a relaxing environment. Allure is well-known for it’s beautiful landscape paintings, which are said to look just like photographs.
Art & Design Gallery
For those heading up to the beautiful Kaikoura lookout, be sure to stop into Art & Design Gallery. Here visitors can marvel at the exclusive Bridgette and Walter interior designs. The range extends to include sculptures, paintings, jewelry and the world-renowned Kaikoura Mirrors. Many of the pieces are also gilt in 22 carat gold leaf which makes for an extraordinary sight!
Jean Laming Gallery
New on the block is Gallery of Jean Laming, an extremely talented artists that with exhibitions featured world-wide. You can find Jean Laming on the waterfront with an extensive range of contemporary art on display.
The Pink Shed
Located in the historical Fyffe House is the Pink Shed Gallery. During the summer months this gallery displays some of the finest local art on offer, including Maori art, paintings, sculptures and more. The Fyffe house is also a museum, making this stop worthy of a few hours exploration.
Ruth Stirnimann’s Studio
For the biggest range of abstract and contemporary art in Kaikoura, visit the prestigious Ruth Stirnimann’s Studio. As one of New Zealand’s most travelled artists, Ruth has a wide range of unique and expressive pieces that she continues to showcase world-wide. This studio has viewings by appointment only, so be sure to get an early booking.
Homewood Hill Gallery
Featuring the work of multiple award-winning artist Karen James, Homewood Hill Gallery is a must see stop for traditional art. Karens work features landscapes, portraits, still life and figure drawings, all crafted beautifully from acrylics and pastels. The gallery is located on State Highway 1 and is open 6 days a week.
Heading North from Homewood Hill Gallery, you will stumble over Seaward Pottery and the wonderful work of Juanita Edelmann’s. This working pottery and gallery has been operating for over 30 years and features a magnificent range of artful creations.
To see the largest range of Jade, Paua and bone jewelry, be sure to stop into Southern Paua. Located under the Railway Bridge this factory shop offers unique and beautiful jewelry at affordable prices.
