Kurow Winery and Vintners Drop, Kurow, Waitaki District, North Otago

The Waitaki Valley is New Zealand's youngest premium wine country and like the rest of the district's cuisine owes its unique flavours to a combination of soils and geology and coolish climate.

Long "indian summers" result in a slow ripening of grapes, enhancing flavours and minerality in the wines.

Aromatic white wines and pinot noir from the small hand-tended vineyards are distinctive and specific to the region - truly wines of 'terroir'

The first cellar door opened in 2007 and now serves stunning Waitaki produce and Italian style platters alongside your wine tasting.

Kurow Winery produces two premium labels predominantly from the pristine valleys of the Waitaki and Hakataramea, Kurow Village and Pasquale.

The wines focus is on purity of fruit, they represent the natural clean freshness of these regions.

The Vintners Drop can be found in the old Post Office building in Kurow and is the Valley's first regional tasting room with most local wines stocked and has bottle sales and tastings.

Brands include Craggy Range, Black Stilt, Bobbing Creek,  Forrest, Ostler, Pasquale/Kurow,  Valli & Waitaki Braids.

For a unique wine experience then driving down State Highway 83 into Kurow is a must do or join up with Wine Tours Otago for their Waitaki Taster Tour running Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays! Cheers!
