New life in Dunedin's warehouse precinct

A new walk showcases the revitalization of Dunedin's warehouse precinct.

In the 1880s, Dunedin's warehouse precinct was the engine room of the New Zealand economy. The Union Steamship Company Ltd. - New Zealand's largest private company - was headquartered here, beside insurance houses and prominent stock-and-station firms including Dalgety's, Donald Reid Ltd, and National Mortgage Agency Co. Ltd.

A hundred years later, the precinct was languishing, a forgotten island. But recent developments are breathing life back into the area. Learn how, and contribute to the revival, on City Walks' Smart City Walk, which departs from the Dunedin iSite at 1.30pm, daily except Sundays.
