Are you planning a New Zealand ski holiday? Find out where you can ski, and which ski field is the best for you and your family near Queenstown.

1. Coronet Peak

Located about 20 minutes drive from Queenstown, Coronet Peak is the most accessible with an easier drive than others, not to mention a shorter drive. It has varied terrain which caters to all abilities, including 30% being rated as 'black'. Don't worry, there is loads of blue terrain and some nice gentle greens for those looking for easier options. Coronet Peak night skiing is available on Friday and Saturday nights from early July, and with a few different choices for bars and restaurants, it is known for its apres ski vibe in the afternoons.

2. The Remarkables

Slightly further afield, the Remarkables are accessed by a windy road that is know to be a little hairy, and about 40 minutes drive from Queenstown. It has plenty of green terrain, a few terrain parks including a Burton 'Stash' as well as some steeper shutes and gullies. Definitely go and check it out for a day, but not at the expense of Coronet Peak unless you are spending your day in the park.

3. Cardrona

60 minutes drive from Queenstown (it's scenic, so worth it), Cardrona is full of wide open groomers and has a cool vibe to it. The Cardrona ski school is highly recommended, catering to kids from a small age up to 15 for full day or half day lessons. Cardrona is also the only resort with on mountain accommodation, albeit limited. This is great for the convenience, however at the expense of a choice of restaurants and nightlife.

For a ski holiday in Queenstown, get the NZ Superpass, valid at Coronet Peak and the Remarkables, or the OnePass NZ, valid at Cardrona, Treble Cone, Snow Park and 5 other resorts. Both can be exchanged for a range of other activities.
