Daily Keeper Encounters allow you to come eye to eye with some awesome native and exotic animals and you can also experience the expanse of the African plains with Pridelands. Watch the graceful movement of the giraffe and see zebra, rhino and springbok quietly grazing. And why not journey through New Zealand's unique coastal habitat. Experience the fragile eco-system of New Zealand coast complete with little blue penguins, sealions and shore birds.

A range of experiences are available for you to get up close to the animals including: Junior Keeper, (age 7-18 yrs) this experience gives a visitor the opportunity to work with the Zoo keepers for a day, ZOOM is also a popular activity offering families a backstage pass to get up close and personal with the creatures Auckland Zoo has to offer.  Safari Nights is also a popular attraction, this experience lets visitors come to the Zoo in the darkness of the night, stay for a friendly BBQ and/or stay over.       

The big part of the Auckland Zoo is their Conservation Fund which contributes to helping save the world's most endangered species, including native New Zealand birds and our iconic tuatara - which at 225 million years old, is the world's oldest living dinosaurs! Internationally the Auckland Zoo Conservation Fund helps fund programmes to save the cheetah, Sumatran orangutans, Sumatran tiger, Vietnamese turtles and more.
