National Parks in Nelson
Nelson is the gateway to three of New Zealand’s most beautiful national parks. Abel Tasman National Park is a top kayaking location with crystal clear waters, sandy beaches and native bush. The walk through the park is one of the Great Walks in New Zealand and the 53 km track is easily accessed on a three to five day journey. Nelson Lakes National Park is filled with beautiful alpine vista with lakes, beech forests, and rivers. Kahurangi National Park stretches from the West Coast to Golden Bay and is New Zealand’s second largest national park. Throughout the year, Nelson is host to a range of different events to experience. In summer, the Jazz and Blues Festival is an eight day musical event with several different performers.
