New Zealand tour operator Active Adventures have developed interactive maps for their multi-day itineraries. People considering a small group adventure vacation now have an innovative mapping tool at their disposal; each Active Adventures trip has a fully interactive map allowing the online user to plot their course around the country, zoom in and out to get a better understanding of the activities, switch to satellite view for a different perspective and even use street view for 360 degree panoramas!
These maps, powered by Google, are linked to a day-by-day itinerary. So now, whilst reading about hiking Key Summit on the Routeburn Track, for example, it's possible with one click to see where exactly that is, follow the track in detail and even switch to 'street view' (or should that be 'track view) for panoramic views down the Hollyford Valley and across the Darran Mountains of Fiordland.
Keep an eye on these maps for further improvements, such as location-specific photos, videos and survey quotes from Active Adventures' travellers.
