The Oparara Basin showcases impressive limestone formations, surrounded by native bush. One of the most popular walks in the basin is the Oparara Arch. The track follows the Oparara River(look out for Blue Ducks in the rapids), through podacarp forest to the entrance of the Oparara Arch one of the largest Arches in the basin.
The track is well formed and of a relatively easy grade the steepest section is at the entrance to the arch. The walk is 25mins each way over a 1km track. The arch itself is 219m long with sides 79m apart and the roof is 43m above the river.
