Walk the Walk in Napier

Napier, a city tailor made for discovering on foot. Arrive by bus or plane and and seek out all the secret sites that the region is famous for.

Napier may be a little off the beaten track for visitors to New Zealand but it is easily accessible for travellers choosing not to arrive by car.

The Intercity Bus service is a regular cost effective method of transport that delivers you to the centre of town.  Choosing an inner-city accommodation location like Quest Napier, just around the corner from the bus stop, ensures the delights of this Art Deco city are all within walking distance.

Step out from this elegant historic listed accommodation venue and saunter around the Art Deco shops that line Emerson and Tennyson streets which run perpendicular to Marine Parade. Join one of the daily Art Deco walking tours and learn more about the history of this compact city and the origins of the modern down town centre following the devastating earthquake of 1931.

The flat, cycle friendly inner city is the ideal setting to discover via pedal power.  Fish Bike cycle rentals have a bicycle to suit all ages and are a short stroll down Marine Parade.  Cycle the inner city or follow the Rotary Cycleway around to the seaside suburb of Ahuriri and dine el fresco at any number of cafes or restaurants that dot the harbour.

While staying inner city, there are numerous wine tour companies that will meet you at Quest Napier and escort you to a variety of world famous wineries to sample some of Hawke’s Bay finest vintages.

For the more adventurous, try a cycling wine tour.  Operators will also meet you at the door step and transport you to the cycling start point where you can pedal from one vineyard to the next at your leisure.
