We’ve all heard about silver surfers on the internet but how about on the slopes?
Porters ski area, only one hour from Christchurch, is making it super-easy for first time silver surfers (that’s you!) to learn to ski or ride. During your younger years you were no doubt busy bringing up your family and climbing the corporate ladder. No time for learning to ski or ride – right? We’ve just the solution now that you’ve got more time.
Dedicated Masters Programme
We affectionately call you ‘Masters’ but we know you’re young at heart and eager to learn to ski or ride. Our specially designed programme is hosted by well-known Cantabrian and one-time media personality, John Dunn. He is a ‘Masters’ too and a long-time Porters’ enthusiast.
With a little guidance and help you'll be mastering turns amongst the snowy powdery slopes in no time at all. It is so fulfilling to master a new skill and doing it amongst the pristine alpine environment of New Zealand's Southern Alps is unbeatable.
In no time at all you'll be up the top of the mountain, soaking up the views of Lake Coleridge and Aoraki Mount Cook beyond. That is before you carve your way to the bottom in style on your skis or snowboard.
We’ve packaged up equipment hire, novice lift pass, beginner instruction, a certificate of achievement and, of course, a well-earned après coffee or house wine at the end of your session. Maybe, after a few visits to the slopes at Porters you can tick your bucket list item: “I want to learn to ski or ride” or will that be “I learned to ski at Porters”.
