Located 75 minutes away, Cardrona is a fun, family-friendly ski resort. A good balance of beginner, intermediate and advanced runs spread over 345 hectares of terrain means Cardrona is ideal for all abilities. Natural features in addition to a large selection of terrain park features make Cardrona one big playground. Earthworks are currently underway in Cardrona Parks developing a new intermediate freestyle ski and snowboard terrain park for the upcoming 2014 winter season. Quiet learners slopes make it the perfect place to learn to ski or board. Wind down after hitting the slopes in one of five cafés and restaurants, including a noodle bar and pizza café.
Treble Cone is the South Island’s largest ski resort with 550 hectares of terrain. It’s best suited for intermediate and advanced skiers and boarders due to naturally longer, steeper runs and more challenging features. This being said Treble Cone is currently undertaking earthworks to extend the High Street trail to provide a longer, wider and gentler gradient increasing the appeal for beginners. Situated on the edge of Lake Wanaka, the views from the top are breathtaking. Backcountry enthusiasts have ample room to explore some of the best off-piste snow conditions in NZ.
New Zealand’s premier cross country ski resort is nestled in the Cardrona Valley just one hour from Queenstown. 50kms of varied trails wind through the Pisa Range, connecting a series of backcountry huts. Cross country skiing is great for fitness and an excellent way to explore the backcountry, but dog sledding, snowmobiling and sledding make easy fun alternatives!
