The rugged wilderness of the West Coast offers diverse natural scenery not to be missed. Explore from the glaciers to the rainforest.

Fox and Franz Josef Glaciers flow from the Southern Alps into the rainforests of the West Coast. Explore these glaciers on a guided tour, scenic flight or heli-hike, but make sure to book ahead during peak periods in the summertime.

Explore New Zealand’s second largest park trekking the Heaphy Track, the longest Great Walk in New Zealand at 78.4 kms.

3. Wild Foods Festival:

4. Punakaiki:

Located in Paparoa National Park, the Pancake Rocks and Blowholes should be seen at high tide when the water from the sea hits against limestone surfaces.

5. Lake Brunner:

For fishing enthusiasts, the fishing on the West Coast is some of the best in New Zealand. While at Lake Brunner, go fishing for brown trout, swimming in the lake, and trek to see some of the birdlife.
