By definition, a holiday is for chilling out, right? And there’s no better place in the world to chill than in one of the world’s chilled out (literally and metaphorically) countries. But you’re young, you’re adventurous, and you want to do the wild stuff too, right? No problem, New Zealand’s North Island has both.
Campervans are the most chilled out way to travel, and if you’re heading to the North Island, you can pick up a cool set of wheels from Hippie Camper in Auckland.
Your first adrenalin challenge is the popular Bungy Jump from the Harbour Bridge. Traditional or reverse? It’s up to you. After bragging photos have been posted to facebook and instagram, chill at one of the great cafes all over town. Little B Café at 22b Cross Street is a current favourite for those in the know.
After Auckland, all roads lead to Rotorua on the hunt for your next adrenalin dose. Jet boating, white water rafting and the quirky New Zealand-born activity of OGO (that’s rolling around inside a giant transparent inflatable ball, in case you didn’t know) are all here. Have fun, kids. After, relax and recover. Don’t let the name fool you – the mud baths, hot water springs and slow walks around Hells Gate are the way to go.
There’s plenty more adrenalin and chill combinations to explore on the North Island, but we’ll leave it up to you to discover them!
