For 1 week each year Dunedinites down their Highlanders jersey's and incarcerate their dark attire in exchange for designer hand bags and classy glad rags!
The iD Dunedin Fashion Show has been the highlight of the Dunedin events calendar for more than 10 years. When St Clair Beach Resort opened in 2009 it became the natural choice of accommodation for the fashion week's VIP guests!
We were delighted to have hosted an array of fashionable diva's as part of this years fashion week, a few of the well-known faces included TV3's John Campbell, Samantha Hayes and fashion royal -Zandra Rhodes accompanied by famous British jeweller Andrew Logan.
The week was a great success with Zandra and Andrew keeping their fanatical fashion show fans entertained whereever they went! I personally had lots of laughs with the pair at our regular interactions at breakfast each morning and when Andrew gave a personal showing of many of his pieces to a few of my housekeeping team and I one morning when they went to service his room!
Perhaps the highlight for our week however was hosting the Club Couture lunch, the most exclusive of iD Fashion Week event. This event sees the sponsors and high profile guests being treated to a four course degustation prepared by our multi-award winning chef - Michael Coughlin matched to wines from Rockburn. The event was a great success with all the guests loving the food, the wine and the humerous banter from Zandra and Andrew!
When we thought that our involvement in that years iD fashion week was over, Zandra Rhodes sprung a surprise and asked whether she could hold one last, rather exclusive, event. A private showing of the collection from her suite on the 4th floor!
The week was a blinding success, with all involved being very pleased with the results! The best bit about writing this article for me is that we know that its only 5 months until the next iD Dunedin Fashion Week - where we will be playing the role of an accommodation sponsor once more and the venue for another great Club Couture luncheon. Roll on April 2011!
