- Picnic beside Hakanoa Lake
13 themed zones make up the 4km walkway around Lake Hakanoa in Huntly, creating plenty of great spots to stop for a picnic.

 - Hakarimata Scenic Reserve
View native Kauri trees up close on the Hakarimata Kauri Loop Track. Marvel at these strong, ancient giants of the forest and stroll through a grove of young Kauri, as well as Rimu and Nikau on this picturesque bush walk; or challenge yourself to make it to the top for spectacular views.

- Rangiriri Battle Site and Heritage Centre
Historical landmarks and battle sites can be found throughout the Hamilton & Waikato region, particularly in the North Waikato at Rangiriri, home to one of NZ's significant land wars.

Zealong Tea Plantation
New Zealand's only tea plantation lies just north of Hamilton City. Visitors can learn all about the tea making process and Zealong's story on the Discover Tea experience, enjoy a tea tasting ceremony, or simply relax in the onsite cafe.

- Port Waikato
Where the mighty Waikato River meets the ocean, Port Waikato is a popular surfing spot and a relatively untouched seaside village, perfect for a summer vacation without the crowds.

- Pokeno
Just a few minutes from the main highway, Pokeno is the perfect stop on your journey through the Hamilton & Waikato region. Enjoy the Sunday markets for locally produced products, then relax in a cafe, enjoy some Pokeno Bacon, or indulge with the famous huge ice-creams (12 scoops) 

 - Nikau Caves
While the Hamilton & Waikato region is known for its underground caving in Waitomo, the North Waikato also boasts some underground wonder in the untouched limestone caverns of the Nikau Caves.

- Waikato Coalfields Museum
Celebrating the North Waikato's rich coal mining heritage the Waikato Coalfields Museum provides an insight into early settler’s life in the Hamilton & Waikato and the unique entrepreneurial spirit of the region.

- Woodlands Historical Homestead
Woodlands is a historic villa homestead in the North Waikato. Built in 1872 the homestead sits amongst stunning gardens making it a popular wedding and event destination and the onsite cafe makes for a delicious meal before exploring the ground.

 - Hampton Downs Raceway
Hampton Downs Raceway hosts multiple motorsport events throughout the year including the V8 Supertourers, the popular MudFest and more, for your fix of motorsport action. Hampton Downs is also a popular conference destination with onsite facilities and accommodation.
