Magic Cottage is a beautiful riverside retreat providing the ultimate getaway or romantic escape. Guests enjoy total privacy in this boutique studio cottage perched on the banks of the Takou River. Eco-chic without comprimising on luxury.
Perched on the riverbank and surrounded by five acres of subtropical gardens and our 150 acre organic farm, the cottage spills onto a deck featuring an antique claw foot bath overlooking the river; the perfect place to relax, gaze at the stars or watch the abundant birdlife as the river slips by.
On site are secluded swimming, sub-tropical gardens, private jetty and boat house, fishing, kayaks, hot tub, massage and spa treatments and the beautiful sandy beaches at Takou Bay a short paddle downstream.
Further afield are Kerikeri and Bay of Islands with Russell, Paihia and Waitangi, golf courses including Kauri Cliffs, giant Kauri trees at Puketi Forest, pristine beaches with swimming, fishing, sailing, diving and surfing.
Ian and Anna of Magic Cottage have a passion for the environment and have planted over 20,000 native trees, converted the 150 acre property to certified organic status and installed solar lighting in the cottage, just a few of the many activities they've undertaken to make the property and your stay as sustainable as possible, without compromising on comfort or luxury.
