Rotorua’s natural remedies

Rotorua is renowned for its geothermal & natural properties from the mineral waters, mud & manuka honey which offer restorative and therapeutic benefits.

Geothermal area

Rotorua is located in the Taupo Volcanic zone area, which includes New Zealand’s active volcanoes.  The volcanic activity throughout the area is formed by underground gasses with high pressure that rise to the surface.  The geothermal action in the area can be experienced in Rotorua though the hot springs, mud pools and geysers.

Mineral waters

The mineral waters that fill the hot springs at Polynesian Spa are from two different mineral springs.   The acidic water from the Radium Hot Spring which fills the Priest Spa Pools, is known for its therapeutic properties for healing muscle aches.  The alkaline water from the Rachel Springs fills the Deluxe Lake Spa, Private Pools, Adult Pools, and two hot pools in the Family Spa area.  After a dip in the alkaline pools, your skin will feel soft and supple.  There are 27 different thermal pools in the Polynesian Spa complex to choose from to dip into the relaxing thermal waters.

Rotorua mud

Rotorua mud is rich in minerals such as iron, calcium, zinc potassium and many more minerals which are beneficial for the skin.  Rotorua mud is commonly used in skin care products for cleansing, removing dead skin cells and repairing your skin.  Polynesian Spa offers a variety of cleansing spa therapies that utilise Rotorua mud with body wraps, exfoliation and body polishes.

Manuka honey

Manuka honey comes from Manuka and Kanuka Trees to produce a honey that has traditionally been utilised for medicinal purposes to treat colds and flus from its antibacterial activity.  You can experience the benefits of manuka honey with a body polish treatment, facial, back therapy, or foot pamper spa therapy treatments at Polynesian Spa.
