Pinot Noir reigns supreme in Martinborough, but each November the boutique wine village swells with food and wine lovers enjoying Toast Martinborough.

The sophisticated wine village of Martinborough in the Wairarapa celebrates the release of the new vintage each November with one of New Zealand’s most popular wine and food festivals, Toast Martinborough.

Twelve of the village’s family-owned boutique vineyards team-up with some of the finest restaurants from Wellington and Wairarapa and live music adds to the distinctive feel at each winery. Festival goers can stroll easily between wineries or jump on free shuttle buses that circulate constantly. Buses and trains also bring people from Wellington, which is only one hour away.

Toast Martinborough is held the third Sunday in November each year.

The Wairarapa is a region full of character. With its bush-clad ranges, rugged coastline and characterful small towns , it has plenty of attractions. Take the coast road to Cape Palliser and you can climb a lighthouse, see a seal colony and visit the quirky fishing village of Ngawi.
