World Shearing and Woolhandling Championships 2017

World Shearing and Woolhandling Championships to be held in Invercargill, Southland from 9th to 11th February 2017 at ILT Stadium Southland.

The World Shearing & Wool Handling Championships will be held at the ILT Stadium in Southland, Invercargill, New Zealand during 9th to 11th February, 2017.

With 32 teams registered  from around the World participating, we are sure to provide an event that will be well received by locals and tourists alike.  Not everyday you will go on holiday and see such an event happening.  With over 4,000 sheep passing through the ILT Stadium Southland over the three days, many a photo will have to be taken to be believed that such an event has taken place in the middle of Invercargill city.  A must for everyone.

No only will you witness the best of the best in world vying for the title of World Champion Shearer, World Champion Blade Shearer and World Champion Woolhandler, there will be entertainment at the evening events including Jody Direen and Jason Kerrison.  A laser show will run in the lead up to the World Machine Shearing  Final and there will be a cultural performance.

During the day while the wool comes off, and the men and ladies sweat it out to gain a spot in the finals, there will be a wool and trade expo happening.  With many trade sites booked from crafts, to food to all about farming and the wool industry, one cannot say they will get bored.

The whole event will also be live streamed but trust me being at the event is a must.  Tickets can be purchased here:
