Gumtree Farmstay is a 300 acre working farm offering hosted B&B plus a separate shepherd's hut. It's less than a 10 minute drive to Oamaru and the Blue Penguin Colony. We farm bulls, a small flock of sheep and have a menagerie of farm animals.

Price for the Ardgowan Room at Gumtree Farmstay includes continental breakfast, limited free WIFI, 4pm farm tour. Optional Extras:- Kiwi Style 2 course dinner shared with our family (2 days notice required), Sheep Shearing Demonstration (please enquire at booking as not always available). Contact us for prices. The Shepherds Rest is self-contained so bring along your own breakfast provisions. Farm Tour is also an optional extra, or just soak in the outdoor bath and enjoy the alpaca & scenery.
No charge if cancelled 7 days prior to booking. If cancellation made within 7 days of booking then a loss of 50% of the total booking price. Cancellation within 48 hours of arrival incurs a charge of 100% of full rate. We recommend that you get travel insurance.
Stay with locals & experience life on a Kiwi farm. We farm cattle & sheep on 300 acres, approximately 6km from historic Oamaru. As well as farming bull beef we also have a collection of other farm animals including pet sheep/lambs, alpaca, working dogs, a kune kune pig, chickens, ducks & 2 house cats. We offer 2 types of accommodation.
There are a hosted B&B bedroom in our personal home, with private bathroom/toilet. A delicious continental breakfast & 4pm farm tour are included in your stay. The other option is a Shepherd's Hut which is separate from the house. The Shepherds Hut is self-contained and has an outdoor bathtub. The farm tour can be purchased as an optional extra.
Take time to explore Oamaru and the Waitaki region.
