Matavino is a small, family vineyard, nestled on gentle north-facing slopes in the famous Matakana Wine region about one hour's drive north of Auckland.
Our vision is to grow a variety of wines to match the local food and produce. This includes some red Italian grape varieties such as Barbera, Dolcetto and Nebbiolo as well as Viognier and Chardonnay. The vines are hand nurtured by family and friends using sustainable practices. Matavino vineyard was initially planted in September 2006 and the first wines were sold in October 2010.
Matavino wines are best matched with food but also taste great out on the deck or around a BBQ with friends and family. After all, that’s what Italian life is all about – great food, great company, great wines.
