Waipoua Forest is home to some of the worlds largest & most ancient living treasures, Tane Mahuta(God of the Forest)& Te Matua Ngahere (Father of the Forest). Supported by girths of up to 16mtrs and towering heights of 51mtrs these 2500 to 3000 year old giant Kauri trees dwarf all who enter their realm. Spend a night in a true rainforest beneath the shadows of some of these mighty giants. Pitch a tent in our camping ground, or overnight in one of our huts,cabins or lodges. Swim in northlands cleanest river, discover the giant trees, walk the tracks, plant a kauri tree, take a guided night or day walk, view the Visitor Centre's historic Kauri display and at days end enjoy the evening chorus provided by our resident Kiwi population.
