A perfect stay at the Church Accommodation Hahei

A stay at the Church Accommodation Hahei

The summer has been nothing to write home about but recently we have had a spell of stunning autumn weather.

The garden at the Church Accommodation is looking beautiful with chrysanthemums and irises in flower.  The garden alive with Tuis and the odd wood pigeon (Kereru) feeding on the puriri berries.

The soft light, warm days and the sea like a millpond makes for the perfect stay in Hahei.

One night not enough

Last week we had a couple staying from Colorado.  They had been travelling for several weeks and we were their last stop in New Zealand.  One night is not enough to experience Hahei and all the area has to offer, but I put together a quick itinerary based on the low tide at midnight.

A day exploring and a moonlit trip to Hot Water Beach

To avoid the crowds at lunchtime Hot Water Beach  I suggested a walk to the stunning Cathedral Cove and an afternoon swim on beautiful Hahei Beach (the water temp is still 19 degrees Celsius), then fish and chips on the beach front to catch the last of the days rays and an evening stroll.

Back to the Church to pick up a complimentary spade and towels then off to Hot Water Beach with the light of the full moon.  Apparently a family was just vacating their hot pool when they arrived so they didn’t even have to dig!!

Ending on a high note

“An exceptional end to a wonderful holiday!” They had done everything I recommended and it was perfect.

When you can make a recommendation on personal experience about the place you are most passionate about and it works …. It’s a great feeling.
