If you like to party, or just enjoy a casual drink, Auckland’s got you covered. There are heaps of spots to head out to all nights of the week for a good time. Here are the best (in alphabetical order):
One of Auckland’s newest “precincts” and home to some great new bars perfect for some after work midweek drinks and some starters before a big night out.
They don’t call it the Big Little City for nothing. There are heaps of smaller areas inside the CBD packed with bars, clubs and cafes to get lost in. Queen St, High St, Fort Lane, Chancery, Elliott Stables to name a few. The Big Little City nightlife section has it all covered.
A night out in Auckland wouldn’t be complete without heading up to K’road. It’s got a bit of a notorious reputation but with that comes the guarantee of a good time.
This place was one of the centres for the Rugby World Cup in September and its proximity to Eden Park and the train station make it a great place for some drinks after the game.
A really popular spot in the summer time with lots of bars and restaurants with decks to soak up the sun and beach views. At night there are some lively spots and easy access by bus to get into the central city.
There’s a bit of everything in Parnell and it’s probably better known for its café and restaurant culture but there are heaps of bars to have a great night out in all the way up Parnell Rise.
Aucklanders tend to have a bit of a reputation around New Zealand, and you could argue that it all comes from Ponsonby. But you can’t look past it if you want a great coffee and a huge night out at some of the many bars along Ponsonby Road.
Jump over the bridge and have a few drinks on the North Shore. Takapuna is the best spot for a bit of variety, all your options are here.
The best known and busiest spot for Auckland’s nightlife, there are 30 bars and restaurants to choose from and the party goes well into the next morning. The boats and the water are close and it’s easy to hop from one spot to the next.
