Hidden in one of NZ’s lushest farming areas, go back in time to a 19th Century lifestyle of no expense spared luxury fit for an a-list celebrity.
A short 15 minute drive from Palmerston North International Airport, hidden in one of New Zealand’s lushest farming areas, you’re taken back in time to a 19th Century lifestyle of no expense spared luxury fit for an a-list celebrity or member of the royal family.
Built in 1898 and named after an estate in Sussex, England, Highden Manor is most well-known for its life as a noviate house for the Marist Fathers during 1923 to 1990 – a spiritual haven and teaching venue for monks. Although destroyed in the 1931 Napier earthquake, a chapel still exists, making Highden a venue for the complete wedding experience – renewing vows, professional photographs in the extensive gardens, and the ultimate in luxury honeymoon accommodation.
Palmerston North City in the Manawatu District is centred around a beautiful inner city park sprinkled with public art and surrounded by boutique shops and art galleries.
