Dunedin Botanic Gardens are of international significance and located in Dunedin north end. Buses run from the centre of town about every 10 minutes.

Dunedin's Botanic Garden opened in 1863 and is the oldest in the country. Famous for its rhododendron dell - a riot of movement and colour during Dunedin's annual (October) Spring Festival – it is also renowned for its extensive rose garden, camellia collection, Japanese garden, Edwardian Winter Garden, rock garden, native plant and geographic collections, and aviary.

The New Zealand Gardens Trust has designated Dunedin Botanic Garden a Garden of International Significance. From forested slopes to formal borders, the garden has a variety of settings hosting thousands of plants from New Zealand and overseas. You can relax here, or indulge in some serious botanical study!
