On the third weekend in February, the Art Deco Trust stages its annual Art Deco Weekend 'a celebration of the Art Deco style'. Napier city gleams with classic cars and aircrafts of the Deco era. People dressed in Deco style bring glamour and elegance to this unique festival which attracts people from many overseas countries.

Taumatawhakatangihangakoauauotamateaturipukakapikimaungahoronukupokaiwhenuakitanatahu is the Māori name for a hill, 305 metres (1,001 ft) high, close to Porangahau, south of Waipukurau in southern Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. It has gained a measure of fame as it is the longest place-name found in any English-speaking country, the name is often shortened to Taumata by the locals for ease of conversation.
