The Kepler Track is just the place to have your own 'above the clouds' experience.

Being a loop track, that starts and finishes in Te Anau, transport is not a problem. Just pack your backpack, step out of the door, and be on the track straight away!

The first days walk will take you along the shore of Lake Te Anau, before climbing up to 1100m and arriving at Luxmore Hut.

It's a great place to take the kids for their first taste of tramping - with cookers, gas, mattresses, toilets, water and a wood stove for heating provided.

Day 2 gives you amazing views over Lake Te Anau and across to the Murchison Mountains (home of the wild population of Takahe), sidling over the alpine tops for most of the day.

Wind your way down in to the Irisburn Valley in the afternoon and put your feet up with a nice cup of tea at the hut - you'll have earned it!

Day 3 is all bush - a nice walk through beautiful beech forest to Moturau Hut on the shores of Lake Manapouri. The well marked track gives you plenty of time to look around and check out the native birdlife.

On your last day you can choose to either depart the track early and catch a shuttle back to Te Anau, or continue on foot back to the township - finishing up at the Fiordland National Park Visitor Centre.

Then it's time to do what the locals do - get showered and head out for a beer and a meal. Sit back, look across the lake to Fiordland National Park - and reflect on the 60km you've just walked!!!
