Marketing for Glaicer Southern Lakes Helicopters. Experiencing stunning scenery everyday.
Queenstown is well known for its Lord of the Rings film locations and some say that the best way to experience this part of Middle Earth is by helicopter.
Glacier Southern Lakes Helicopters in Queenstown offer Lord of the Rings scenic helicopter flights and are well qualified to do so as one of their senior pilots, Alfie Speight, was the principal filming pilot for the Lord of the Rings Trilogy.
Alfie is regarded as one of the best in the business when it comes to aerial filming.
The tour gives Lord of the Rings fans a close up look at several film locations such as where Arwen faces the Nazgal at the Ford of Bruinen along the Shotover River.
It also includes a glacier landing alongside Mt Earnslaw which can also be recognised as the Misty Mountains, giving passengers a sense of what it might be like to cross The Redhorn Pass.
Flying over Glenorchy and the Paradise Valley you will also experience plenty of natural features which also double as Isengard, Amon Hen and Lothlorien.
The one hour, ten minute flight also includes an autographed copy of the latest updated edition of Ian Brodie’s Official Lord of the Rings Location Guidebook.
For more information and to book your Lord of the Rings scenic helicopter flight go to Glacier Southern Lakes or call 0800 801 616.
n.b. filming of The Hobbit is currently being undertaken throughout New Zealand and is due for release in late 2013 so keep an eye out for hobbits, dwarfs and elves this summer.
Since the 1980’s, Glacier Southern Lake Helicopters have offered a selection of daily scenic flights over the iconic landscapes of the Wakatipu and Fiordland and Mt Aspiring National Parks. Alpine, snow or glacier landings are part of all flights.
