Rotorua is renowned for its rich Maori Culture, our staff at NZONE Skydive embrace the spirit of Ranginui, and feel very privileged to be able to jump from our aeroplane from 15,000ft everyday.

Our 'Ranginui' Maori design we had specially designed for our company, encompasses the journey of your emotions, when you attempt a Tandem Skydive.  The meaning of our design follows:

MOKO O RANGINUI - Ranginui 'Sky father'

Ranginui is our supreme skyfather, he is the space above, which looks over us, and he is our ultimate shelter, life giver.  He is a very spiritual realm, consisting of many levels which to ascend.  Only the children (birds) of Tane (God of the forest) will fly high into the world of Ranginui.  Tane ascended the different levels of Rangi to attain the 'Kete Wananga' (Baskets of knowledge).

The Moko is a very sacred Art form of the Maori, and to wear the moko on the face one had to be of high rank.  So a moko representing Ranginui is the ultimate in 'Rangatiratanga' (Supreme Leader). 

Using the forehead part of the moko is relevant because it is the space on the face that represents the upper realms and levels of the person.  The 'Tiwhana' that curves over the eyebrows, are likened to the 'Uenuku' Rainbow.  It is here that ones thoughts expand and develop into a decision, that decision being to take on the challenge.

The top part of the Moko the 'titi' represents the top level of knowledge, in terms of the design itself, there are two Mangopare (Hammerhead Shark) within, it is the symbol of strength and courage to do things with the veracity of the Shark this is what is needed to do the jump, and they are also in the descending form, pointing downwards to show the descent from up above.

The `Moko a Ranginui' embraces the fear and gives courage needed to attempt The Ultimate Jump.
