When you arrive in Wanaka, an ideal spot to stay is the Edgewater-Lake Wanaka which, as the name suggests, is located literally on the edge of Lake Wanaka.

If you’re travelling with friends then Edgewater’s accommodation is perfect. There are mixture of one-bedroom suites that can accommodate up to four, and two bedroom apartments that can accommodate up to six friends. The Wineglass Café is ‘social central’ with and all day menu, flavoursome coffees and a bar. Needless to say there is a large screen TV so you won’t miss out on any sports action.

If you have a few days up your sleeve and want to sample New Zealand’s ski resorts, the world class Treble Cone and Cardrona ski resorts are right on Edgewater’s doorstep.   They are typically open from late June to late September ( the New Zealand winter).

Once you’ve worked up an appetite, we recommend stopping at one of the nearby vineyards to sample award winning Pinot Noir or for some delicious local fare.
