With three boutique ski areas and countless heli-skiing routes, the Mackenzie is well-suited to every type of skier and snowboarder. Families and learners are very well catered for here, as are advanced skiers, with plenty of off-piste options.

  • Ohau Snow Fields is known for its powder snow, friendly people and uncrowded slopes. The turn-off for Ohau Snow Fields is located just 15kms south of Twizel.

  • Mt Dobson Ski Area offers a challenge for all levels of skiers and snowboarders with their wide, open slopes and smooth powder runs. Learners and families are well-catered for, while advanced skiers and boarders will enjoy the triple chairlift and smooth runs. Mt Dobson Ski Area is an easy, scenic hour’s drive from Fairlie.

  • The third boutique ski area in the Mackenzie is Roundhill, located just 35 minutes from Lake Tekapo. Known for its excellent family facilities and ski runs, Roundhill Ski Area also offers the largest vertical rise in New Zealand for those seeking more of a challenge! And to top it all off, Roundhill offers breath-taking views across the Southern Alps.
