Alps 2 Ocean uses inflatable kayaks, perfect for beginners and no experience is required. Plastic whitewater boats are available for those with solid kayaking skills and a roll on Grade 2. Rivers are graded 1 to 6 (6 is the hardest) We paddle on grades 1 to 3. Float down glacial snow fed rivers like the Rangitata, Rakaia or Waimakakariri with a backdrop of the awe inspiring Southern Alps.
For our classic trip, allow 4 hours with approx 2 hours of paddling. Big day out, allow 7 hours, with 4 hours of paddling on 2 different rivers .We specialise in multiday river trips, carrying all the food and camping gear for a wonderful 2,3,4,or 5 day journeys.
