About

The Anderson family has owned and developed this native garden since 1993. It is designed to capture majestic mountain views. Landscaping includes New Zealand natives, lakes, waterwheel and bushwalk. Ancient rimu, kahikatea, miro and lancewood are home to many native bird species including the wild kiwi.

Transport yourself into the magical world of lichens, mosses and ferns. Delight in the many tree and ground orchads, there is mountain five finger, leatherwood, comprosmas, hebes and the very special mountain cabbage tree. We also have rhododendron which trive in our climate, as it is similar to where they originate from.

The garden is open during the Rhododendron Festival (Oct/Nov for 10 days), otherwise by prior appointment only.
