Black Ridge Vineyard

Pioneers, risk takers, brave, fighters. These are words that have been used to describe the founders of Black Ridge, the southernmost vineyard and winery in the world. Wines with a real sense of place are hand crafted from our steep vineyards.

About

After many years of learning, experimenting and perseverance Black Ridge had its first proper harvest in 1985 and first commercial vintage in 1988, making its vines some of the oldest in the region, yielding wines with true terroir of the steep schist hills on which the vines are planted. A winery was established in 1992 and soon Black Ridge became one of the icons of Central Otago wine production.

Our cellar door is open daily from 11am for wine tasting and sales. Vineyard tours for groups of 6 or more also available by prior arrangement.
