Rocky's Goldmine Trail, a three hour loop walk from Dickson Park Thames with scenic views and historical sites.
Rocky's Goldmine Trail is a three hour loop walk from Dickson Holiday Park in Thames, The trail climbs from the Park to a summit with views across the Hauraki Plains and the Firth of Thames.
The trail then enters regenerating bush and a wonderful Nikau Palm grove as it drops into Tinkers Gulley. As the trail follows the stream out to Tararu Valley road numerous goldmines dating from the 1870's can be seen. The route then follows the Tararu valley back to the Holiday Park. A reverse direction visit to Tinkers Gully on a dark night will reveal wonderful displays of glow-worms.
