Dolphin seal swim and tours in the timeless French Pass. Breathtaking views, rich in wildlife, steeped in history. Seabirds include the little blue penguin, shearwater, gannets and rare king shag.
French Pass is a dynamic waterway that attracts a large number of Dusky, Common and Bottlenose dolphins and orca. Dusky are present in larger numbers, April through to November. Bottlenose are more common through the summer months along with Common dolphin. NZ fur seal pups are present throughout the year.
French Pass Sea Safaris offer both dolphin and seal swims. One marine mammal species is guaranteed on each tour. Due to the migration of different species you may have the opportunity to swim with both dolphins and seals.
Our point of difference is the clear water and calm seas in a semi sheltered location and at times Dolphins, seals and seabirds foraging in sheltered bays.
