Mangungu Mission House – breathtakingly beautiful.
Visit the site of the third and largest signing of the Treaty of Waitangi at this Wesleyan Mission, located in one of the most stunning parts of the Hokianga Harbour. Built in 1838-39, the house is furnished with precious missionary items, portraits of historical figures including the chief Patuone, the missionaries’ main protector.
Visitors can also see the table on which the Treaty was signed at Mangungu as well as relics of the days when nearby Horeke was a ship-building yard.

  • Business hours: Nov-Apr: Sat, Sun 12-4pm; May-Oct:Sun 12-4pm; Summer and Easter school holidays: Thurs-Mon, 12-4pm. Closed Christmas Day.
