Motueka District Museum is right in the centre of town - the old High School building.
The museum show artefacts from Motueka's past. As well as static displays the museum has changing exhibitions and a public research room.
Static displays include: the ship's berth, made to scale,shows the hardships suffered by our early immigrants; Coppins shop- saddler and tent maker. Still a family business today;look at contemporary household gadgets of the late 1800s/early 1900s; Maori taonga, including a waka; the story of tobacco growing, one of Motueka's main industries until 1995.
Research Room- visitors may use the room daily to learn more of the areas history. Members of the Historical Ass are available on Tuesdays to assist with research
