The heritage award-winning Ormondville Station has now been transformed into self-catered accommodation (or B&B) with a railways theme.
Ormondville station (built in 1880 and restored to a 1950s theme) is part of New Zealand's oldest complete rural rail precinct.
To give it a new purpose, it provides self-catered (motel style) accommodation, although B&B (popular until the Bay Express stopped) is still possible. It has a double bedroom, and a second containing twin single beds. Up to eight can be accommodated within the station, while several restored two-person railway workers' huts (on railway wagons) are also available.
The main office, complete with railways paraphernalia, serves as the lounge/dining area, while modern ablutions and a small kitchen have been installed.
Guests can visit local attractions, including nearby Norsewood, or just relax.
