Combine the Seasider, Macraes Gold Mine & Taieri Gorge Railway & have a memorable & diverse day out. At Palmerston you’ll be met by a coach, which will take you to the largest open pit mine in NZ.
The two-hour tour takes you to see the enormous trucks & excavators in action. Visit heritage-mining sites including a complete battery stamper. View the gigantic Fraser’s open cast pit & the CAT maintenance base. We visit the Otago Fish & Game hatchery & see the rainbow salmon breeding ponds followed by a stop at the gold processing plant.
Later travel down the beautiful Nenthorn Valley to Pukerangi to join the Taieri Gorge Railway back to Dunedin. This tour is an exciting mix of the old & the new, all set in amazing Otago landscape.
