Scenic Waterways Historic Gold Trail Cruises

Enjoy a relaxing cruise up the Mahinapua Creek to its source lake Mahinapua. Walk in the footsteps of the pioneers and gold diggers. With no roads this was the main mode of transport to the gold fields south of Hokitika. The creek also runs through magnificent stands of 400 year old virgin Kahikatea and Rimu rain forest and wetlands.

Great photo opportunities, mirror reflections of rain forest and the snow capped Southern Alps including Mt Cook. Breeding grounds for the local delicacy whitebait. The creek is alive with the adult Inunga during summer which attracts a healthy population of White Herons, Kotku and a host of other native species.
