Port Chalmers is situated on the western shore of Otago Harbour about seven kilometres from Dunedin. The tour begins in the historic township visiting unique and interesting sites.
We then travel around the harbour and visit the remains of several sailing vessels and other maritime structures, and take in tales of colourful local identities and events.
We continue on to the secluded beach-front settlement of Aramoana at the entrance to Otago Harbour. We take in uninterrupted coastal views from the man-made mole (constructed in the 1880's), across to the Otago Peninsula albatross colony and pre-war gun emplacements.
There may be opportunities to gather some of Aramoana's abundant sea food including mussels, clams and tuatua.
