Our 3 day waka tour departs from Whakahoro, and we have 2 nights staying in Department of Conservation huts, and on the last night we are hosted by Tieke Marae, before finishing at Pipiriki.
The scenery on this tour is magnificent, and there are stops along the way at significant historic places, where your guides will tell their stories. The Whanganui River was first inhabited by our local Maori in 1350 so there is an absolute wealth of history and legends to share. All guides are descendants of these early Maori.
This is real New Zealand, so be prepared for overwhelming natural beauty and powerful images. The tour includes food, transport from and to Raetihi as well as camping gear.
